YWCA South Florida Holiday Toy Drive
You can give back this holiday season by helping YWCA South Florida support over 450 families and 600 children through our Holiday Toy Drive!
We are collecting age and content appropriate toys for the holidays from November 11 through December 9.
Packing For A Purpose: Supporting Children and Family Providers
Tis the season for gratitude! YWCA is showing our appreciation and care for those in our community who work with children and families - children’s program staff, counselors and more. As part of our SEW-REDI Initiative, funded by The Children’s Trust, we are creating SEW-REDI care kits for more than 1,000 staff at Trust-funded community programs. Each kit includes a canvas tote, yoga mat, eye mask, drink tumbler, workbook, and journal.
Join us on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 9am-1pm to pack kits, which will be distributed in the following weeks.

Economic Justice Council Graduation Reception
In an effort to combat the disparities seen among women and people of color, YWCA South Florida has launched the Economic Justice Council – a group of South Florida business leaders, who have already actively committed to racial justice, who will hold themselves accountable to rethinking their roles and informing solutions to create true workplace belonging and pathways to an inclusive workforce and economy.
YWCA x Ulta Pretty Empowered Girls Conference
YWCA and Ulta welcome participants ages 9-14 for a youth empowerment event. “Pretty Empowered will engage young women through sessions focused on cosmetic science, supply chain logistics, leadership, and career exploration. The programming is designed to emphasize the importance of leadership development, exploration of STEM fields, and wellness.

Jason Jenkins Day of Service
Football UNITES™ and the Miami Dolphins are partnering with YWCA South Florida for Jason Jenkins Day of Service on Monday, Oct. 30, to celebrate the life and legacy the late community icon and YWCA South Florida board member Jason Jenkins. Volunteers will be coming to our early education sites to plant community gardens and read to the children.

WE360 Program Starts

The Children's Trust Family Expo: South
By now, Miami-Dade County knows that summertime means the annual return of The Children’s Trust Family Expo, the largest, free, family resources events in our community. This year, the Family Expo events come with the added attraction that they will be partly indoors, with exhibitors housed in air-conditioned venues to keep children and families cool in the summer heat. Don’t worry, many of the fun-filled activities children and families have come to expect will still be outdoors to take advantage of South Florida’s energizing sunshine.
The Family Expo continues to be the best chance for families to connect with the Trust’s extensive provider network as well as other community agencies and organizations that serve them. Events are held at various locations and on different days to make sure to reach the largest number of our diverse population in Miami-Dade.
The Expo attracts thousands of visitors annually with excitement, entertainment & resources for all who attend. This year the events will take place on weekends at the end of July and beginning of August to make it as easy as possible for families to attend and get information and resources ahead of the upcoming school year.

Mindful SEW Mini-Retreat
We are excited to host our Mindful SEW Mini-Retreat with our friends at The Children’s Trust and Trinity Church Peacemakers! We will have a daylong mini-retreat focused on the science of mindfulness and mindfulness-based practices. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the science supporting the efficacy of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and engage in a set of diverse mindfulness-based practices, including but not limited to body scan, lovingkindness, mindful movement, sitting meditation, forest therapy, and breathwork.

The Women's Fund Advocacy 105 Training
Join your Women’s Fund on Thursday, June 6, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. for our Advocacy 105 Training in collaboration with the FIU Maurice A. Ferré Institute for Civic Leadership. During this pragmatic training seminar, attendees will learn from attorney Yolanda Cash Jackson and Voices for Healthy Kids, experts in the field of advocacy and government affairs.
Learn how to effectively speak up on community issues by learning or sharpening necessary skills and strategies to be successful advocates, while adhering to 501(c)(3) “lobbying activity” regulations. This training will equip you with the necessary tools while focusing on promoting a more equitable society and advocating for positive local and state policies!
This will be a hybrid event hosted at the FIU Main Campus, and virtually via Zoom.
